Dear AMF Community,

With the conclusion of the AAPI Communities Relief & Recovery Fund (May 1st through July 24th), Asian Mosaic Fund Giving Circle (AMF) and Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy's Philadelphia Chapter (AAPIP Philadelphia) are pleased to share that we were able to raise more funds than we have for any other past grant cycle. We received an outpouring of support from both individual and institutional donors, raising $40,000 (after administrative fees) to be distributed as emergency grants in response to COVID-19. Thank you to the AMF Community for your generosity – none of this would have been possible without your support.

The allocation of funds was collectively decided by an all-volunteer ad hoc Advisory/Grants Committee, consisting of 10 nonprofit leaders and community members representing different AAPI communities in Greater Philadelphia. Their perspectives were invaluable to the grantmaking process and we thank them for their insights and time.

Today, we are excited to announce 9 grantees of the AAPI Communities Relief & Recovery Fund. The work of these grantees include (but is not limited to):

  • providing critical resources and services to underserved immigrant and refugee populations (e.g. care packages, culturally appropriate food, public health education, translation services, mental health support, social services, etc.);

  • uplifting the spirit of AAPI communities through arts and culture; and/or

  • elevating #BlackLivesMatter and Black solidarity at regional and national levels while also challenging anti-Black racism within AAPI communities.

We appreciate all your tireless efforts!

CONGRATULATIONS & THANK YOU

Additionally, following the unjust murder of George Floyd, AMF and AAPIP Philadelphia felt it was imperative that we not only stand in solidarity but also take action in solidarity with Black communities. To honor our commitment to Black and AAPI interracial solidarity, we made the decision (with support from the Advisory/Grants Committee) to allocate 25% of our raised funds ($10,000) to the Philadelphia Black Giving Circle (PBGC)’s giving priorities. PBGC will identify to whom these funds should be distributed, and AMF will announce and share the work of these organizations in the coming month.

While we were not able to fund all applicants at this time, we do want to take a moment to recognize their work – thank you for being a vital part of our communities. We hope that future fundraising initiatives will benefit even more AAPI-led, AAPI-serving organizations. If you would like to make a gift towards the next grant award cycle (early 2021), please head to the DONATE button on this page.

We look forward to continuing working with you, our AMF Community, and helping AAPI communities in the Greater Philadelphia area stay whole and resilient.
